The Wolfville
Business Development Corporation was conceived
of and incorporated in the late 1980's by a group
of merchants and community leaders who saw a need
to develop a vision of where the business community
in Wolfville would go in the future.
The mandate of this new group was to seek out
opportunities that would enhance the appearance
and infrastructure of the downtown core, to create
new business opportunities, and to provide a means
for the existing businesses in the downtown to
take an active roll in promoting Wolfville as
a prosperous business center in the Annapolis
Valley.
Business owners and interested parties from all
facets of the community volunteered taking a turn
on the board of directors, chairing a committee,
or by attending special planning meetings to help
develop Wolfville's business future. Over the
years projects to beautify and redevelop Wolfville's
core business area to make it more appealing to
do business have succeeded in making Wolfville
one of the most prosperous business centers in
the Annapolis Valley.
In recent years, the focus of the WBDC has shifted
from redeveloping the downtown to attract new
business, to that of promoting the many wonderful
businesses and amenities Wolfville now has to
offer.
